Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy

Effective October 28, 2026

This policy is for residents of Washington (My Health My Data Act, RCW 19.373), Nevada (SB 370), Connecticut, and anyone else who wants to know how Sharpen handles health-related information. It's separate from our general Privacy Policy, as these laws require. Sharpen is published by Cornerstone Church of Bluffton ("we").

Categories of consumer health data we collect

"Consumer health data" can include information about your body, fitness, and activity. In Sharpen it includes:

  1. Exercise and training data: workouts, exercises, sets, weights, reps, effort (reps in reserve), estimated one-rep maxes, workout duration, and plans.
  2. Body and health measurements: bodyweight you enter, and with your permission, workouts, heart rate, steps, active energy, and body weight read from Apple Health.
  3. Health-related profile details: age, training experience, and injuries or physical limitations you type into the plan builder.
  4. Challenge check-ins: that you completed a workout (or a devotion) on a specific date, if you join a challenge.

We do not collect precise location, biometric identifiers, reproductive or sexual health information, or diagnoses, and we do not use geofencing.

Sources

  • You, when you enter information in the App.
  • Apple Health and your Apple Watch, only with your permission.

Why we collect it

  • To log your training, suggest weights, build and personalize your plan, and chart your progress.
  • To save workouts to Apple Health and avoid duplicates.
  • If you join a challenge, to show your check-ins to that challenge's members.

We don't use consumer health data for advertising or marketing, and we don't use it for any purpose you haven't consented to.

Where it's stored

Categories 1 to 3 stay on your iPhone and Apple Watch. We never receive them. Category 4 (challenge check-ins) is stored in Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) public database only after you consent.

Sharing

We share consumer health data only:

  • with other members of a challenge you join (your display name and check-ins), after you give separate consent to that sharing;
  • with Apple, which stores challenge records and delivers notifications for us as our processor.

We never sell consumer health data, and we don't share it with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third party.

Consent

Sharpen asks for your consent before collecting challenge check-ins, and separately before sharing them with challenge members. Apple Health access uses Apple's own permission screens. You can withdraw consent anytime in Settings → Privacy & Data → Withdraw challenge consent. That stops collection and sharing and deletes your challenge data from iCloud.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • confirm and access whether we collect, share, or sell your consumer health data, and see a list of the third parties and affiliates we share it with (only challenge members and Apple, as described above);
  • delete your consumer health data: Settings → Privacy & Data → Delete my challenge data, or Erase everything on this iPhone;
  • withdraw consent as described above;
  • appeal a denial by replying to our response. If your appeal is denied, you may contact the Washington State Attorney General or your state's Attorney General.

To make a request, email jake@cornerstonebluffton.org with the subject "Health data request." We'll confirm your request and respond within 45 days. We may extend that by another 45 days if necessary, and we'll tell you if we do. We complete deletions within 30 days and tell processors (Apple) to delete as well. Because we don't hold your on-device data, the fastest way to see or delete it is in the App.
