Not medical advice

Sharpen provides general fitness and devotional content. It is not medical advice and is not a substitute for a doctor, physical therapist, registered dietitian, or licensed counselor. Nothing in the App diagnoses, treats, cures, or prevents any disease or condition.

Talk to your doctor first

Check with a physician before starting or changing an exercise program, especially if any of these apply to you:

  • you have, or have had, heart disease, high blood pressure, chest pain, dizziness or fainting, diabetes, or a joint, bone, or back problem;
  • you're pregnant or recently gave birth;
  • you take medication that affects heart rate or blood pressure;
  • you're new to exercise, returning after a long break, or over 40 and haven't trained recently;
  • you have an injury, or a doctor has told you to limit activity.

Stop if something's wrong

Stop exercising immediately and get medical help if you feel chest pain or pressure, severe shortness of breath, dizziness or faintness, an irregular heartbeat, or sharp or unusual pain. In an emergency, call 911.

Train safely

  • Use safety arms, spotter arms, or a spotter for squats and presses. Learn proper form before adding weight.
  • Weight suggestions, estimated one-rep maxes, and plate math are automatic estimates from the numbers you enter. They can be wrong for you. Choose loads you can lift with good form.
  • Plans from the plan builder, including plans personalized by Apple Intelligence, are generated automatically. They don't know your medical history. Swapping exercises for injuries you list is a convenience, not clinical guidance.
  • Heart rate and calorie figures from Apple Watch and estimates in the App aren't medical measurements.

Devotional content

Devotions are written for encouragement and reflection. They aren't professional counseling or a substitute for your pastor or a licensed mental-health professional. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline in the U.S.), or call 911.

Your responsibility

You exercise at your own risk, as described in the Terms of Use, including the assumption of risk and release.
